As a Solar Engineer, you are responsible for the technical analysis, performance studies, and design optimization of photovoltaic and storage systems. You utilize advanced 2D/3D design tools and performance simulation software to develop efficient and cost-effective solar solutions. You work closely with execution teams to ensure seamless project delivery from design to implementation, while supporting procurement activities through detailed material specifications and order preparation.

Zoom on the job:
- conduct comprehensive technical analysis and feasibility studies for photovoltaic and storage projects, including site assessment and energy yield optimization
- perform detailed performance simulations and modeling using specialized software such as PVSyst, ensuring accurate energy production forecasts and system optimization
- design and develop technical layouts using 2D/3D CAD tools, creating detailed electrical and mechanical drawings for photovoltaic installations
- collaborate closely with execution teams to provide technical support during construction phases, ensuring design intent is maintained and addressing field modifications
- prepare detailed material lists and technical specifications for procurement, coordinating with the company's purchasing systems to facilitate efficient order processing
- support project managers with technical input during pre-sales activities, including preliminary design concepts and budget estimations
- analyze system performance data and conduct post-installation performance assessments to validate design assumptions and identify optimization opportunities
- review and approve technical submittals from contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards
- provide technical guidance and design clarifications to execution teams throughout project implementation phases
- support continuous improvement by researching new technologies, design methodologies, and performance optimization techniques
- conduct technological watch and stay updated on emerging trends in photovoltaic, energy storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure
- ensure all designs comply with Belgian and European regulations, grid codes, and client technical requirements
- maintain and update design standards, calculation templates, and technical documentation libraries
Are we a match?
- bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field
- proven experience in photovoltaic system design, analysis, and performance optimization, preferably within an EPC or engineering consultancy environment
- experience with performance analysis tools and data interpretation for solar installations
- experience with company ERP/purchasing systems and procurement workflows would be advantageous
- advanced proficiency in PVSyst software for performance simulation and energy yield analysis
- strong skills in 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc.) for technical design and layout development
- solid understanding of PV-system components, electrical systems design, and relevant standards (IEC, IEEE, NEN, etc.)
- knowledge of battery systems and electric vehicle charging concepts is preferred; alternatively, willingness to develop these competencies through internal or external training programs
- knowledge of procurement processes and experience in preparing technical specifications and material lists
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in technical calculations and simulations
- demonstrated ability to conduct technological watch and integrate innovative solutions into engineering practices
- excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary execution teams
- ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
- willingness to travel to project sites for technical support and design validation
- fluency in English, Dutch and/or French; additional language skills are advantageous
